HS u18 Program
Boys and Girls 15-17 years (high school)
Season 1 (Fall): September to November
Season 2 (Winter): January to March
Practices: 1 practice per week (evenings); potential 2nd (optional) practice if/as facilities are available
Games: Saturday games in CMBA League
NCBC offers a great program to new or experienced basketball players ages 15-17. With weeknight practices, and Saturday games within the CMBA league, your child is sure to develop their skills a and a love for the game. Our Winter program is available to High School players that ARE NOT playing high school basketball and are 17 as of December 31.
Fall
- u18 girls - NOTE: that CMBA hosts two FALL opportunities:
- we caution you to NOT over commit, though you are welcome to play in both as they are separate leagues
- Zone (which is us - NCBC Thunder) play - weeknight practice, Saturday game
- Diamond league (CMBA) play - Sunday
- Diamond League information is found here
- u18 boys - NOTE: that CMBA is piloting a Platinum league
- no equal/balanced play time rules per player
- full length FIBA games
- emphasis on high performance
- further updates/information TBA by CMBA here
- determination of Team(s) participation is at Zone discretion: NCBC will render decisions through evaluations based on team(s) level of play
Winter
- u18 - WINTER season starts January 4th
- u18HS boys - traditional FIBA 5v5
- 8 weeks of game play on Saturdays
- seeding tournament January 4th in addition to the 8 league games
- 2 weekends of playoffs
- opportunity to attend u18 Youth Provincials in March
- u18HS girls - FIBA 3x3
- 5 weeks of game play on Saturdays
- January 11th
- January 25th
- February 8th
- February 22nd
- March 8th
- training will be provided at the start of each day by a lead coach for an hour, followed by 3 games per week
- potential optional practice outside of CMBA training - TBD with coach/team
NCBC Thunder provides programs that are accessible and follow the Long Term Athlete Development Model to instill and encourage lifelong character traits of sportsmanship, commitment and confidence throughout all in our North Central Community. We recognize that giving our youth the FUNdamentals of both the sport and a team setting develops a foundation that will extend beyond basketball.
